Our Team of Chartered Accountants and Credit Union Advisors
Brophy Gillespie was formed in 1997 as a result of a merger of two sole trader practices. Aidan Brophy and Jim Gillespie are the principals of the merged firm.
Aidan Brophy
(BComm, FCA, Dip IFRS, Dip FA)
Aidan has a Commerce degree from University College Dublin. He trained as a Chartered Accountant with Crowe Horwath in Dublin and formed his own practice in 1992. He holds professional qualifications in International Financial Reporting Standards, Forensic Accounting and recently completed a further qualification in the new Irish personal insolvency regime.
Aidan has specialist experience in the IFSC, Regulated entities, and Fund Taxation, Administration and Accounting sectors.
He heads up the insolvency and corporate finance functions in the firm and currently holds office as a High Court appointed liquidator.
Aidan has been a member of the Business Law Committee of the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies in Ireland for a number of years. He was a member of the Central Bank of Ireland Client Asset Requirements External Auditor Subgroup in 2012.
Jim Gillespie
(BA (Maths), FCA, CUA, Dip IFRS, Dip Ins)
Jim has a Mathematics degree from Trinity College Dublin. He trained as a Chartered Accountant with Eaton Dowd in Dublin and formed his own practice in 1995. He holds professional qualifications in International Financial Reporting Standards and Insolvency. He also holds a professional qualification as a Credit Union Advisor.
Jim heads up the Credit Union and Independent Irish Film, Television and Video Production Industry functions in the firm.
Dylan Whelan
(ACA, CUA, AITI)
Dylan trained as a Chartered Accountant with the firm and has acted as manager for a number of our different client portfolios.
He holds a professional qualification as a Credit Union Advisor.
Dylan has particular expertise and experience in the Credit Union and Independent Irish Film, Television and Video Production Industry functions in the firm.
REGULATION
Brophy Gillespie is a member of, and regulated by, Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI).
Under the terms of the Irish Investment Intermediaries Act, 1985 the firm is also regulated (by virtue of its membership of the CAI) by the Irish Central Bank.
TECHNICAL PANEL
Brophy Gillespie has established a technical panel of external expert advisors who are always available to us should they be required. Our technical panel includes professionals from a broad range of disciplines including Irish and UK tax, legal and accounting services, banking and financial services, and property consultancy services.
It is our policy to ensure that we always have the necessary technical support and expertise at our disposal before we commence any assignment.
